The Community Development Department is responsible for administering and implementing the goals and policies of the City of Eureka’s general plan.  We endeavor to promote comment, understanding, and public interest in the planning process and the numerous regulations pertaining to it by providing public information services to a broad range of citizens and citizen groups.

 

Our Department is comprised of a number of different divisions, including: Current Planning/ Permitting; Long Range Planning; Enforcement; and, Environmental Planning.  We also provide direct staff support to numerous Boards and Commissions, including the Planning Commission; Historic Preservation Commission; Design Review Committee; and, a variety of ad hoc committees.

 

In addition to myself, the Department is staffed by five people, who, I believe, are the best qualified, have the most experience and are the most professional in their field, they are: Sidnie L. Olson, Senior Planner Current Planning; Lisa Shikany, Environmental Planner; Paul Moore, Senior Planner Long Range Planning; Tavis Austin, Planner; and, Jenny Webster, Administrative Services Assistant.
